Welcome to the Phi Epsilon chapter of Delta Delta Delta here at the University of Southern Mississippi! I am so excited that you have chosen to learn more about our organization and the diverse group of girls that make Tri Delta so special. In 1888, our founders came together to form an organization in which girls could invest themselves in long-lasting relationships, built upon truth, self-sacrifice, and friendship. Their ultimate goal was to focus on each individual member’s inner character, rather than her outward appearance—to appreciate each member for who they are and what makes them unique. Phi Epsilon chapter was founded in 1951 at The University of Southern Mississippi and has developed an admired reputation both on campus and in the community through sisterhood, academics, and philanthropy. However, the most rewarding aspect of being a part of Tri Delta is gaining the perpetual bond of friendship within our members and alumnae, as well as, developing a strong bond with the fraternity. For me personally, Tri Delta has encouraged a strong sense of accountability, a continuous desire to lead, and the support to grow confidently in my personal morals and values. I hope that you have been able to get a glimpse of why Phi Epsilon is such a remarkable chapter and the reasons why this chapter will always hold a special place in each member’s heart.
The Purpose of Delta Delta Delta shall be to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members, to develop a stronger and more womanly character, to broaden the moral and intellectual life, and to assist its members in every possible way. It shall also be the purpose of Delta Delta Delta to promote and develop mutually beneficial relationships between the fraternity and colleges and universities where the fraternity has established chapters, to develop qualities of unselfish leadership among its members, and to encourage them to assume, with integrity and devotion to moral and democratic principles, the highest responsibilities of college women. -written by Sarah Ida Shaw in 1888
The Open Motto of Tri Delta is ‘ AσΦαλως ‘ Ayαπωµεν Aλληλας which translates “Let us steadfastly love one another.”
